He’s been the Chief Operating Officer of two Vermont companies, was a founding member of an Internet-based start-up company, launched the eCommerce division of International Data Corporation, and built the electronic publishing division at Fidelity Investments.
Prior to launching Fieldstone Consulting, Brian was Chief Operating Officer for Global Resource Options, a renewable energy company, with responsibility for corporate administration, sales/distribution support, materials, installation, human resources, and information systems.
As Chief Operating Officer and Director of Marketing at Stone Environmental, Brian led all corporate services functions including strategic planning, marketing and sales support, finance and accounting, human resources, facilities, and information technology. While at Stone, Brian worked closely with the company controller to redesign the financial reporting system and implement new competitive performance metrics.
Brian was a Founder and Vice President with Learning Objects Network where he developed a new consulting practice assisting large publishers and corporate clients in adopting distributed Internet-based content management strategies.
At Competitive Computing, Brian developed eCommerce strategies, led Web site program teams, and provided account management services for clients looking to transfer their business models to the Web.
Brian was Vice President and founder of the eCommerce group at market researcher International Data Corporation where he developed their Internet-based distribution channel and led worldwide publishing operations. Brian’s organization provided services to 500 analysts in 35 offices worldwide.
Previously, Brian was Vice President of Business Development for Internal and External Communications where he performed sales, consulting, and account management roles for this high-end multimedia communications firm.
As a Director at Fidelity Investments, Brian led cross-company efforts with ten Fidelity companies to reengineer their shareholder reporting process and built their electronic publishing operation. Brian originally joined Fidelity as an operations consultant managing strategic service and business process reengineering initiatives for senior management.
Brian began his career in high-tech manufacturing at Data General Corporation where he held numerous corporate and plant-level positions while developing expertise in total quality management, materials control, information systems, software engineering, product management, just-in-time manufacturing, activity-based costing, and process engineering.
Brian earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelors Degree in Operations Engineering – both from The University of Michigan.
Brian teaches a Customer Service Workshop for The Vermont Business Center at The University of Vermont’s School of Business Administration.
Brian is also a founding member of the Open Hearth Community Center a non-profit organization devoted to providing healthy community programs and facilities for residents of the Mad River Valley. He has been honored to serve as president and board chair of Open Hearth for the past four years.
